> Colophon to Doubts about the Pure Land

微休居士。鳴道學於靖江。有武城弦歌之風。既致政勵精華嚴。鏤梵本為方𠕋。以便讀學。而復弘贊淨土。刻予所著疑辨。廣為流通。夫尚志十玄之門。棲神九蓮之域。可謂深契普賢願王。妙入毗盧性海者矣。惜早逝不令曹魯川見之。

> Layman Wei Xiu (Wei Xiuju) propagated the teachings of the Way in Jingjiang, his influence echoing the spirit of the stringed songs of Wucheng. After retiring from office, he devoted himself entirely to the Avatamsaka Sutra, having the Sanskrit text carved into square-bound volumes to facilitate reading and study. He also energetically promoted the Pure Land tradition, reprinting my work "Doubts Resolved" (Yibian) for widespread circulation. One who cherishes the profound teachings of the Ten Mysteries and settles his mind in the realm of the Nine Lotuses can truly be said to have deeply entered into the vows of Samantabhadra and wonderfully merged into the Ocean of Vairocana's Nature. It is a pity that he passed away early, so that Cao Luchuan never had the chance to meet him.
