### 其三曰

> Third

卿已出家永辭宗族。 無親無疎清淨無欲。 吉則不歡凶則不慼。超然縱容豁然離俗。 志存玄妙軌真守樸。得度廣濟普蒙福祿。 如何無心仍著染觸。空諍長短銖兩升斛。 與世諍利何盡僮僕。經道不明德行不足。 如是出家徒自毀辱。今故誨示宜自洗浴。

> You have left home, forever parted from clan and kin— without close or distant, pure and without desire. In good fortune you are not joyful; in calamity you are not sorrowful. Transcendent and relaxed, wholly detached from the world, your mind set on the mysterious, following truth and guarding simplicity. Having attained deliverance and widely rescued others, all receive blessings and fortune. How can you be mindless and still cling to defiling contacts? Empty disputes over length and shortness, over ounces and bushels— contending with the world for profit—how is that any different from a servant? The sutras and the path are not clear; your virtue and conduct are insufficient. Leaving home like this only brings ruin and disgrace upon yourself. Therefore I now instruct you: you should wash and purify yourself.
