Thus have I heard:
At one time, the Buddha was in the Jeta Grove of Shravasti, in the great Bamboo Garden, delivering a profound teaching. With compassion for all beings, he spoke this mantra, entrusted to the golden-hued Kanabhuti. Then the World-Honored One uttered the true words:

The Buddha told Shariputra: "This is the Golden Ganapati Mantra for Removing Obstacles. If beings receive and uphold this mantra, nothing they undertake will fail. When great results are expected, know that obstacles will surely arise. On the second, eighth, or fifteenth day of either the bright or dark half of the month, smear cow dung on the ground to make a ritual platform, make various offerings, and whatever you do will be accomplished."
Golden Ganapati then said to the Buddha: "I will protect those who uphold this mantra. If any being holds this mantra, they will never lack the wealth, bedding, clothing, food and drink, gold, silver, jewels, or servants they need. All mantra practices will quickly succeed, and whatever they do will go as they wish.
As for the image's form: it has a human body and an elephant head, with six arms. Paint it on white cotton cloth, or carve it—either works. White sandalwood, purple sandalwood, or bitter neem wood may all be used; no other wood is permitted. If using colors, do not use animal-hide glue—use fragrant juices and the sap of fragrant woods.
The figure stands upright, with the trunk curving to the right. The upper left hand holds a knife; the next hand holds a joy-dough ball; the lower hand holds a sword-staff. The next hand holds a vajra; the lower hand holds a rope. The body is golden in color, the feet press upon a golden mountain. Above the head are five-colored clouds, and within the clouds the Four Heavenly Kings and various sages scatter flowers. On the left is Kumara with his pure army; on the right is Atavaka, the great general of the original host. Below on the left, paint beautiful women standing and making musical offerings. On the right, paint the four great yakshas, each holding weapons—one with a bull's head, one with a pig's head, one with an elephant's head, one with a horse's head—all wearing tiger-skin loincloths.
When making the image, do not let miscellaneous people see it. After finishing the painting, burn incense and purify. Do not eat the five pungent vegetables. Place the ritual platform in a pure room; make it square or round, large or small, as you wish. In the platform burn frankincense, white glue, agarwood, and the like. Make offerings of cakes, milk porridge, joy-dough balls, ghee, honey, fruits, and various other things. Whatever you do will follow your wishes.
If there are ghosts or spirits that are difficult to subdue, twist white thread while reciting the mantra over it—one recitation, one knot, until forty-nine knots are complete. Tie it on the left arm, and all ghosts will be bound. One who upholds this should not engage in sexual misconduct or tell lies to deceive. Having undertaken the dietary restrictions, abstain from rapeseed and cilantro, for the five pungent vegetables must not be eaten. When entering households in mourning, places of childbirth, or similar situations, the sealing method applies universally, as do all Vinayaka methods. Do not associate with wicked people. As for fellow practitioners, giving to them is no problem."
