### 啟建祈雨疏

> Prayer for Rain

某州某菴住持沙門某。情旨切以天時亢旱草木焦枯。農望成勞民心實畏。由是啟建　祈雨道場。營備香花燈燭茶果之儀以伸供養。謹集合菴僧道眾諷誦　大佛頂首楞嚴神呪。稱揚聖號。所集功德專伸祈禱大慈大悲靈感觀世音菩薩。次伸祝貢聖位與祈晴疏同至。功德平等資倍。普皆祈禱。所求雨澤速賜感通。惟願　慈雲密布。慧日潛収。垂甘澤以滂沱。潤焦芽而󳬂茂。　右共惟　佛天印知神龍昭格。謹疏。

> The monk in charge of the monastery, having earnestly observed that the heavens have been dry and the crops are withered, and that farmers anxiously await rain while the people are truly fearful, has therefore established a prayer ceremony for rain. Offerings of incense, flowers, lamps, candles, tea, and fruit have been prepared and presented with reverence. The monks and nuns of the monastery have been gathered together to recite the Great Buddha's Summit Shurangama Divine Mantra and to call upon the sacred name. The merit accumulated through these practices is specially dedicated to praying to the greatly compassionate and greatly merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva. Next, we offer prayers for blessings upon <note>the holy place, with the same protocol as the prayer for clear skies, up to this point</note>. The merit is equally shared and multiplied, and all pray together. We earnestly seek that rain may be granted swiftly in response to our requests. We only wish that the clouds of compassion may gather densely, and the sun of wisdom may withdraw, so that sweet rain may pour down abundantly, nourishing the withered sprouts so that they may flourish. This prayer is respectfully submitted for the approval of the Buddhas and heavens, and for the grace of the spiritual dragons. Reverently presented.

封皮同前啟建祈雨道場文疏具位住持沙門某謹封。自啟建日立疏。如此宣白了。每日粥飯二時諷大悲呪七遍。如不感應增三七遍。
