> Now, I will briefly explain for those who practice this ritual: If you wish to quickly attain spiritual accomplishments, you must understand the proper method. The painter of the image must first receive the Threefold Pledge (Samaya) initiation. He should bathe before coming and going, wear fresh clean clothes, and use white cloth, fine linen, silk, or damask that has been thoroughly purified. Wash it with a mixture of camphor powder and musk glue water. All the colors used should likewise be mixed with camphor and fragrant glue—never use animal hide glue. The size can be as you wish. Choose an auspicious day for the work, with the day of the "Ghost Star" (Punarvasu) being considered most favorable. Anyone who creates the image according to the above instructions and seeks spiritual accomplishments will surely succeed—unless their mind is not sincere. The diagram is shown below. For the image itself, take white cloth or silk of whatever size you like, but do not haggle over the price. In the center, draw a large perfect circle. Within that great circle, divide it like a well pattern. In the center, draw five smaller circles, and in the four corners place four half-moons. Between the circles, use the twelve vajra-boundary paths, just as is customary, placing the "Stupa of Dharma Realm" seal at the head of each vajra. At the very center, place the principal deity, the Compassionate Lord Maitreya (Cishi). He wears a crown with the five Tathāgata Buddhas. His left hand holds a lotus flower, upon which rests the Dharma Realm Stupa seal. His right hand forms the teaching mudrā. He sits in full lotus posture. In the circle to the right of the main deity, draw the Bodhisattva of Action Perfection (Karma Pāramitā). In the circle to the left, draw the Bodhisattva of the Seven Jewels Perfection. In the circle in front, draw the Bodhisattva of Dharma Perfection. In the circle behind, draw the Bodhisattva of Vajra Perfection. In the half-moon at the northeast corner, draw the Bodhisattva of Flower Perfection. In the half-moon at the southeast corner, draw the Bodhisattva of Lamp Perfection. In the half-moon at the southwest corner, draw the Bodhisattva of Incense Perfection. In the half-moon at the northwest corner, draw the Bodhisattva of Burning Perfume Perfection. Below the great circle, on the right side, draw the Wisdom King Trailokavijaya (Conqueror of Three Realms). Within the half-moon wheel maṇḍala, his body is dark blue. He has three eyes and four fangs, with a fiercely wrathful expression. His left leg is bent forward, and his right leg is dragged backward, as if in a running stance within the wheel. He has four arms. Two hands form the "Threefold Vow Heart-Hook" mudrā pressed against his chest. His left upper arm curves up beside his ear, holding a vajra hook-axe. His right arm extends straight upward and then descends sharply, holding a five-pronged vajra, surrounded by swirling flames. On his head, he wears the crown of Fivefold Wisdom. On the left side, draw a triangular maṇḍala. Within it, depict the Immovable One (Acala). He has seven topknots, with a single lock of hair hanging down by his left ear. He bites his lower lip on the right side, glares with his left eye opened wide, while his right eye is slightly closed. His head tilts slightly to the right. He sits in half-lotus posture upon a rocky slab of the seven-jeweled golden mountain. His right hand holds a vajra sword, wreathed in the flames of concentration, bent at his right knee. His left arm is bent and extended outward, holding a vajra lasso. His entire body is surrounded by the fire of meditative absorption. These two Wisdom Kings are adorned with heavenly robes, vermilion skirts, necklaces, bracelets, and white sashes. Between the two Wisdom Kings, draw an incense burner with a precious container. Below the right Wisdom King (Trailokavijaya), draw a circle, within which place the practitioner in a kneeling posture, holding a burning incense burner. Above the great circle, draw a canopy adorned with seven jewels. On each side, draw three youths of the Śuddhāvāsa heavens, shown from the waist up, amid clouds of five colors. They scatter incense, flowers, perfume bottles, and flower branches upon the Buddha. The method of painting the image is exactly as described above. Every figure should hold their respective seal and mudrā. Do not deviate from their proper shapes, colors, and appearances.

> Now I will further explain the practice that enables swift attainment of great accomplishment. First, visualize the supreme Samādhi image of the Bodhisattva destined for one final life—the One who will fill the next position before Buddhahood. This is called the Mahā-Maitrī Samādhi, also known as the Compassion-Born Samādhi, or the Compassion-Born Sacred Covenant. The image is exquisitely proportioned, sublime and matchless. Its complexion is like the radiant golden hue of the Jambū continent—a deep reddish-golden tone in painted form. The crown adorns the head, bearing the seven-jeweled diadem of the Five Wisdom Buddhas, decorated with varied necklaces and ornaments. Heavenly garments, armlets, bracelets, flower garlands, dhāraṇī cords, pearl sashes, white belts, and hair pouches complete the attire. Within a great circle of light, a magnificent hundred-jeweled lotus is depicted. Upon this lotus, the figure sits in full lotus posture, absorbed in profound concentration. The countenance is gentle and compassionate, softly smiling, with thirty arms. Each hand holds a jeweled lotus flower, and upon each lotus rests the corresponding mudrā seal—each symbolizing a distinct aspect of the sacred covenant. Radiant body light surrounds the figure, along with a similar halo behind the head and back. The first left hand holds a lotus, upon which the Dharma-realm stupa seal is depicted. The first right hand forms a vajra fist, extending the wind-finger flag toward the right cheek at a distance of about three finger-widths. The second left hand holds a lotus depicting an upright seven-jeweled golden wheel. The second right hand forms a vajra fist, also extending the wind-finger flag, horizontally twirling a three-pronged vajra. The third left hand, similarly, vertically twirls a five-pronged vajra scepter. The third right hand holds a vajra hook. The fourth left hand holds a lotus bearing a vajra lasso. The fourth right hand depicts a jeweled conch shell, twirling it like a five-pronged vajra. The fifth left hand holds a jeweled banner. The fifth right hand holds a lotus upon which a seven-jeweled palace is depicted. The sixth left hand holds a prayer bead mala. The sixth right hand holds a lotus bearing a karma vajra. The seventh left hand holds a lotus upon which a jewel vajra is placed. The seventh right hand holds a lotus bearing a Dharma vajra. The eighth left hand holds a lotus upon which the Tathāgata's ūrṇā hair-tuft seal is depicted. The eighth right hand holds a lotus bearing the Tathāgata's eyebrow seal. The ninth left hand holds a lotus upon which the Tathāgata's eye seal is depicted. The ninth right hand holds a lotus bearing the Tathāgata's nose Samādhi form. The tenth left hand holds the Tathāgata's ear faculty seal and Samādhi mudrā. The tenth right hand holds a lotus bearing the Tathāgata's tongue faculty seal. The eleventh left hand holds the Tathāgata's mouth Samādhi. The eleventh right hand holds a lotus upon which the Buddha's heart Samādhi seal is depicted. The twelfth left hand holds a lotus portraying the Tathāgata's navel Samādhi. The twelfth right hand holds a lotus bearing the Tathāgata's hidden organ Samādhi. The thirteenth left hand holds a lotus upon which a wish-fulfilling maṇi jewel is depicted. The thirteenth right hand holds a wish-fulfilling staff. The fourteenth left hand holds a wish-fulfilling jeweled sword. The fourteenth right hand holds the Tathāgata's jeweled mirror. The fifteenth left hand holds a lotus upon which a jeweled lion is depicted. The fifteenth right hand holds a vajra bell.
