Face-to-Face Confession and Observance Day Ceremony
If there is a matter concerning the Buddha, Dharma, or Sangha, or if a lay donor, parents, or others summon you, and you cannot return on the same day—if you need to be away for two days, up to seven days—you should inform a bhikṣuṇī.
Elder Sister, please listen attentively. I, the nun named [so-and-so], have received permission to leave the monastery for seven days. I am going outside the boundary for a specific reason and will return here to continue the retreat. I inform you, Elder Sister, so that you are aware.
(Note: This is to be stated three times. One should not leave for the sake of food, clothing, or other material gains. If the matter cannot be resolved within the seven days, one must request permission from the Sangha for ten days, half a month, or a month, and then depart after the formal procedure.)
