### 送怠侍者歸天台兼簡東嶼和尚

> Sending Off Attendant Song Returning to Tiantai, with a Note to Elder Dongyu

家山好家山好。絕壁危巒分鳥道。昔不曾來今不歸。知心尚有寒山老。寒山作詩無題目。石上松根寄幽獨。金鸎啼處白雲飛。黃葉落時歌一曲。休居平生懶開口。咄咄擬題三百首。正音決定有誰知。古也不先今不後。南閻浮提人我山。上者極易下者難。去與溪邊石頭語。他日重來結心侶。

> Our homeland is beautiful, our homeland is beautiful. Sheer cliffs and lofty peaks part the bird's path. Never came before, now never to return— One who knows my heart remains: Old Man Hanshan. Hanshan wrote poems without titles, On rocks and pine roots, lodging his quiet solitude. Where the golden oriole sings, white clouds drift; When yellow leaves fall, he sings a song. Resting, never quick to speak in life— Yet "hmm, hmm," he planned three hundred verses. Who truly knows the proper tone? The ancient is not before, nor the present after. In this southern Jambudvipa, a mountain of self and others— For the lofty, it's easy; for the lowly, hard. Go and speak with the stones by the stream— When we meet again, we'll bind our hearts as companions.

金鸎白雲之句。此老人亦自為之喜歟。於是不覺重出也。而其於下所承之句又別。可謂活矣。

> The verse of the golden oriole and white clouds—does this old man also take delight in it himself? Thus, without realizing it, he brings it forth once more. Yet the line that follows it again differs. Truly, it can be called alive.
