### 佛本行集經勸受世利品第二十八上

> Life of the Buddha Sutra: Encouraging the Acceptance of Worldly Gains, Chapter 28, Part 1

「爾時，菩薩從優陀羅羅摩子處辭別而行，安庠漸至向般茶婆山隋言黃白色。到彼山已，於山麓間，求平整處，於一樹下加趺而坐，端身住心，正念不動。譬如有人，頭上火燃，急疾速滅，而擲於地，是時菩薩，心求斷除煩惱邊際，亦復如是。爾時，菩薩內心如是思惟籌量：『我於何時，當得散此大煩惱聚？我於何時，當得破此大愚癡藏，證於阿耨多羅三藐三菩提？又諸眾生沒在生死，復於何時，悉令解脫？』如是念已，威德儼然。時彼山中，多有雜人或取草柴，拾乾牛糞，或復捕獵，耕墾作田，或放牧人，及行道路。彼等諸人，遙見菩薩在般茶婆山樹下坐，猶如雜寶妙金象光，見已各生希有之想，共相謂言：『汝諸仁者！此非常人，從何方來，到於是處？』或言此是般茶山神，或言此是般茶婆山所居仙人，或言此是何處神明，或言此是毘富羅山所護之神，或言此是耆闍崛山守護之神，或言此是大地之神，從地涌出。或復有言：『此是虛空上界天子來下於此，我等如是心各懷疑。何以故？此神身體，光明熾盛，威德巍巍，遍照此山，猶如日月光明遍照，諸娑羅樹，花悉開敷。此非是人，人之光明，不能顯現如是之事。』

> At that time, the Bodhisattva took his leave from Udraka Ramaputra and journeyed on. Walking with calm dignity, he gradually arrived at the Pandava Mountain, which in Chinese means "yellow-white." When he reached that mountain, he sought out a level spot in the foothills. Beneath a tree he sat cross-legged, straightening his body and settling his mind, dwelling in right mindfulness without wavering. Just as a person whose head is on fire urgently and swiftly extinguishes the flames and throws them to the ground, so too did the Bodhisattva's mind seek to put an end to the furthest edge of afflictions. Then the Bodhisattva thought and reflected inwardly: "When will I be able to scatter this great mass of afflictions? When will I be able to break open this great storehouse of ignorance and realize supreme perfect enlightenment? And all beings sunken in birth and death — when will I be able to liberate them all?" Having formed these thoughts, he sat with majestic dignity. At that time, many kinds of people were in the mountain — some gathering grass and firewood, some picking up dried cow dung, some hunting, some plowing and working fields, some herding livestock, and some traveling on the road. From a distance, these people saw the Bodhisattva sitting beneath the tree on Pandava Mountain, radiant like a golden elephant gleaming with varied jewels. Upon seeing him, each gave rise to rare and wondrous thoughts and said to one another: "Good friends! This is no ordinary person. From where has he come to this place?" Some said, "This is the god of Pandava Mountain." Some said, "This is a sage dwelling on Pandava Mountain." Some said, "This is a deity from some place." Some said, "This is a god protected by Mount Vaipulya." Some said, "This is a guardian deity of Mount GRdhrakuta." Some said, "This is a god of the earth, emerging from the ground." And some said, "This is a heavenly being from the upper realms of space who has descended here. We all harbor doubts in our hearts." Why? Because this divine figure's body was blazing with brilliant light, majestic and imposing, illuminating the entire mountain — just as the sun and moon shine everywhere, causing all the sala trees to bloom fully. "This is not a human being. The light of a human could not manifest such things as these."
