### （七三）白淨比丘尼衣裹身生緣

> White-Robed Nun Born Wrapped in Clothes

佛在迦毘羅衛國尼拘陀樹下。時彼城中，有一長者，名曰瞿沙，選擇族望，娉以為婦，作諸音樂，以娛樂之。其婦懷妊，足滿十月，生一女兒，端政殊妙，有白淨衣，裹身而生，因為立字，名曰白淨。年漸長大，衣亦隨大，鮮白淨潔，不煩浣染。眾人見之，競共求索。白父母言：「我今不貪世俗榮華，願樂出家。」父母愛念，不能違逆，尋將佛所，求索入道。佛即告言：「善來比丘尼！」頭髮自落，身上白衣，化為袈裟，成比丘尼。精懃修習，得阿羅漢果，三明六通，具八解脫，諸天世人，所見敬仰。

> The Buddha was staying at the Nyagrodha tree in Kapilavastu. In that city, there was a wealthy elder named Gosha, who chose a family of good standing and married a wife, celebrating with music and festivities. His wife became pregnant, and after ten full months, gave birth to a daughter who was exquisitely beautiful. She was born wrapped in a pure white cloth, so they named her White Robe. As she grew older, the cloth grew with her, remaining fresh, pure, and clean, without needing to be washed or dyed. When people saw her, they all vied to ask for her hand in marriage. But the girl said to her parents, "I have no desire for worldly glory or wealth—I wish to renounce the home life and become a nun." Her parents, loving her deeply, could not refuse her wish. They soon brought her to the Buddha and asked that she be allowed to enter the path. The Buddha then said, "Welcome, nun!" Her hair fell away on its own, and the white clothing on her body transformed into a monastic robe, and she became a nun. She practiced diligently and attained the state of an arhat, possessing the threefold knowledge, the six supernormal powers, and the eight liberations, and was revered by gods and humans alike.

爾時阿難，見是事已，白佛言：「世尊！今此白淨比丘尼，宿殖何福，生時自然有好淨衣裹身而生，出家未久，得獲道跡？」爾時世尊，告阿難言：「汝今諦聽！吾當為汝分別解說。此賢劫中，波羅奈國，有佛出世，號曰迦葉，將諸比丘，遊行聚落，教化眾生。時有女人，見佛及僧，心懷歡喜，持一張㲲，布施佛僧，發願而去。緣是功德，天上人中，常有淨衣裹身而生，乃至今者，遭值於我，出家得道。」佛告阿難：「欲知彼時布施㲲者，今此白淨比丘尼是。」

> At that time, Ananda, seeing this, said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! This Bhikshuni White-Robe—what blessings did she plant in past lives that she was born naturally wrapped in fine clean clothes, and not long after leaving home, attained the path?" The World-Honored One then told Ananda: "Listen carefully now! I will explain this for you. In this Fortunate Aeon, in the country of Varanasi, a Buddha appeared in the world named Kashyapa, who led monks on alms rounds through villages and towns, teaching living beings. At that time, there was a woman who saw the Buddha and the Sangha, and her heart filled with joy. She offered a single piece of cloth to the Buddha and the Sangha, and departed with a vow. Because of this meritorious deed, in heavens and among humans, she was always born wrapped in clean clothes, up to the present day, when she encountered me, left home, and attained the Way." The Buddha told Ananda: "Know that the one who gave the cloth at that time is this very Bhikshuni White-Robe."

爾時諸比丘，聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。

> At that time, the monks, having heard the Buddha's words, rejoiced and carried them out with devotion.
