### 化無所化分第二十五

> Chapter 25: No One to Transform

須菩提。於意云何。汝等勿謂如來作是念。我當度眾生。須菩提。莫作是念。何以故。實無有眾生如來度者。若有眾生如來度者。如來則有我人眾生壽者。須菩提。如來說有我者則非有我。而凡夫之人以為有我。須菩提。凡夫者如來說則非凡夫。是名凡夫。

> Subhuti, what do you think? Do not think that the Tathagata has such a thought as 'I will liberate living beings.' Subhuti, never think this way. Why? Because in truth, there are no living beings for the Tathagata to liberate. If there were living beings for the Tathagata to liberate, then the Tathagata would be holding onto the concepts of self, other, living being, and eternal life. Subhuti, when the Tathagata speaks of 'self,' it is not truly a self. Yet ordinary people mistake it for a self. Subhuti, ordinary people—as the Tathagata speaks of them—are not truly ordinary; they are merely called ordinary.
