### 鐘聲七條

> Seven Strikes of the Bell

雲門曰。世界恁麼廣闊。因甚向鐘聲裏披七條。

> Yunmen said, "The world is so vast. Why do you put on your robe at the sound of the bell?"

無門曰。大凡參禪學道。切忌隨聲逐色。縱使聞聲悟道見色明心。也是尋常。殊不知。衲僧家騎聲蓋色。頭頭上明。著著上妙。然雖如是且道。聲來耳畔。耳往聲邊。直饒響寂双忘。到此如何話會。若將耳聽應難會。眼處聞聲方始親。

> Wumen says: In the practice of Chan, one must avoid chasing after sounds and following forms. Even if hearing a sound leads to awakening or seeing a form clarifies the mind, this is still ordinary. Little do people realize that a true monk rides atop sounds and covers forms, with every moment illuminating and every step supreme. Yet even so, tell me: when sound comes to the ear, or the ear goes to the sound—if you can completely forget both sound and silence, how would you understand this at such a point? If you try to hear with the ear, it will be hard to grasp. Only when you hear with the eyes do you truly come close.

頌曰。

> The verse says:

會則事同一家 不會萬別千差不會事同一家 會則萬別千差

> If you understand, all things are one family. If you don't understand, a thousand differences, ten thousand distinctions arise. If you don't understand, all things are one family. If you understand, a thousand differences, ten thousand distinctions emerge.
