### 非心非佛

> It is not the mind, nor is it the Buddha.

馬祖因僧問。如何是佛。祖曰。非心非佛。

> A monk asked Mazu, "What is Buddha?" Mazu replied, "Not mind, not Buddha."

無門曰。若向者裏見得。參學事畢。

> Wumen said: If you can see clearly in this place, your study of the Way is complete.

頌曰。

> The verse says:

路逢劍客須呈 不遇詩人莫献逢人且說三分 未可全施一片

> When meeting a swordsman, present your blade; When no poet is near, don't offer your verse. When speaking with others, reveal but a fraction; Never offer your whole heart all at once.
