### 路逢達道

> Meeting the Enlightened Path

五祖曰。路逢達道人。不將語默對。且道將甚麼對。

> The Fifth Patriarch said, "When you meet a person of realization on the road, do not respond with words or silence. Tell me, what would you use to respond?"

無門曰。若向者裏。對得親切。不妨慶快。其或未然。也須一切處著眼。

> Wumen says: If you can see it clearly right here, there's no need for celebration. But if you don't, you must keep your eyes open in every place.

頌曰。

> The verse says:

路逢達道人 不將語默對攔腮劈面拳 直下會便會

> When you meet a person who has realized the Way, Do not confront them with words or silence. A sudden slap across the face— If you grasp it right then, you truly understand.
