### 抽顧

> Drawing Lots for Divination

師每見僧。以目顧之。即曰鑒。或曰咦。而錄者曰顧鑑咦。後來德山圓明密禪師。刪去顧字。但曰鑑咦。故叢林目之曰抽顧。因作偈通之。又謂之擡薦商量。偈曰。相見不揚眉。君東我亦西。紅霞穿碧落。白日繞須彌。

> Whenever the Master saw a monk, he would look at him with his eyes and say, "See!" or "Hmm!" Those who recorded this called it "Look, See, Hmm!" Later, Zen Master Deshan Yuanming Mi removed the word "Look" and kept only "See, Hmm!" Therefore, the monastic community called this "Removing the Look." He composed a verse to explain it, which is also called "Raising the Recommendation for Discussion." The verse says: When we meet, no eyebrows are raised, You go east, I go west. Red clouds pierce the blue sky, The bright sun circles Mount Sumeru.
