### 雲門門庭

> Yunmen School

雲門宗旨。絕斷眾流。不容擬議。凡聖無路。情解不通。僧問。如何是雪嶺泥牛吼。師云。天地黑。如何是雲門木馬嘶。云山河走。如何是學人自己。云遊山翫水。問機緣盡時如何。云與我拈却佛殿來。與汝商量。如何是透法身句。云北斗裏藏身。如何是教外別傳。云對眾問將來。大約雲門宗風。孤危聳峻。人難湊泊。非上上根。孰能窺其彷彿哉。詳雲門語句。雖有截流之機。且無隨波之意。法門雖殊。理歸一致。要見雲門麼。拄杖子𨁝跳上天。盞子裏諸佛說法。

> The essence of the Yunmen school cuts off all streams of thought, leaving no room for deliberation. Paths for ordinary beings and sages are absent, and intellectual understanding cannot penetrate it. A monk asked, “What is the roar of the snow mountain’s clay ox?” The master said, “Heaven and earth turn dark.” “What is the neighing of Yunmen’s wooden horse?” He said, “Mountains and rivers flee.” “What is the student’s true self?” He said, “Roaming the mountains and enjoying the waters.” “When one’s karmic opportunities are exhausted, what then?” He said, “Bring me the Buddha hall, and I’ll discuss it with you.” “What is the phrase that penetrates the Dharma body?” He said, “Hiding within the Northern Dipper.” “What is the special transmission outside the teachings?” He said, “Ask it before the assembly.” Generally, the style of the Yunmen school is solitary, perilous, towering, and steep—difficult for people to approach. Without the highest capacity, who could glimpse even a semblance of it? Examining Yunmen’s words, though they possess the power to cut off the current, they carry no intention of following the waves. Though the gates of Dharma may differ, the principle returns to one. Do you wish to see Yunmen? The staff leaps up to heaven; inside the teacup, all Buddhas preach the Dharma.
