### 三種滲漏

> Three Leaks

師謂曹山曰。吾在雲巖先師處。親印寶鏡三昧。事最的要。今以授汝。汝善護持。無令斷絕。遇真法器。方可傳授。直須祕密。不可彰露。恐屬流布。喪滅吾宗。末法時代人多乾慧。若要辨驗向上人之真偽。有三種滲漏。直須具眼。

> The Master said to Caoshan, "When I was with my late teacher Yunyan, I personally received the seal of the 'Precious Mirror Samadhi.' This matter is of the utmost importance. Now I transmit it to you. Guard it well; do not let it be cut off. Only when you meet a true vessel of the Dharma should you transmit it. You must keep it secret; do not reveal it openly. I fear that if it spreads indiscriminately, it will cause the decline and extinction of our school. In this Dharma-ending age, many people possess only dry wisdom. If you wish to discern the authenticity of those who aspire to the highest truth, there are three kinds of 'leakage.' You must possess the clear eye to see."

一見滲漏。機不離位墮在毒海。妙在轉位也。

> At the first glance, there is a subtle leak. If the mind is attached to its position, it falls into a sea of poison. The wonder lies in the ability to shift perspective.

明安云。謂見滯在所知。若不轉位即在一色。所言滲漏者。只是可中未盡善。須辨來蹤始得相續玄機妙用。

> Ming'an said: "If insight gets stuck in what is known, and if there is no shift in perspective, then it remains fixed on a single form. What is called a 'leakage' is simply when something is not yet perfected within the process. One must discern its origin in order to connect with the profound and wondrous function."

二情滲漏。智常向背。見處偏枯。

> Two emotional attachments seep in. Wisdom and constancy turn toward or away. The view becomes one-sided and withered.

明安云。謂情境不圓滯在取舍。前後偏枯鑒覺不全。是識浪流轉。途中邊岸事一作途中未分邊岸事直須句句中離二邊不滯情境。

> Ming'an said: When the mind is fixated on likes and dislikes, it becomes rigid and stuck. It leans to one side, and awareness is incomplete. This is the restless flow of consciousness, caught between extremes on the path. One must, in every moment, let go of dualities and not cling to likes and dislikes.

三語滲漏。體妙失宗機昧終始濁智流轉不出此三種。

> Three phrases that obscure the essence. When the subtle truth is lost, the pivotal point becomes unclear from start to finish. Confused awareness drifts in cycles, never escaping these three.

明安云。體妙失宗者。滯在語路句失宗旨。機昧終始者。謂當機暗昧。只在語中宗旨不圓。句句中須是有語中無語。無語中有語。始得妙旨密圓也。

> Ming'an said: "To grasp the subtlety but miss the essence is to get stuck in words and lose the true meaning. To be confused from beginning to end means that one's understanding remains dim, clinging only to the surface of language without grasping the complete teaching. In every phrase, there must be speech within silence, and silence within speech. Only then can one attain the profound, subtle, and complete essence."
