### 默照邪禪

> Silent Illumination Heretical Chan

真淨文禪師云。今時有一般漢。執箇平常心是道。以為極則。天是天。地是地。山是山。水是水。僧是僧。俗是俗。大盡三十日。小盡二十九。並是依草附木。不知不覺。一向迷將去○妙喜云。東林照覺。以平常無事。不立知見。解會為道。更不求妙悟。却將諸佛諸祖見性法門為建立誣誷先聖。聾瞽後昆。眼裡無筋。皮下無血之流。隨例顛倒。恬不知覺。真可憐憫。圓覺經云。末世眾生。雖求善友。遇邪見者。未得正悟。是則名為外道種性。邪師過謬。非眾生咎。豈虗語耶。

> Master Zhenjing Wen said: "Nowadays there are people who cling to the idea that the ordinary mind is the Way, regarding this as the ultimate standard. Heaven is heaven, earth is earth, mountains are mountains, waters are waters, monks are monks, laypeople are laypeople—the big month has thirty days, the small month has twenty-nine. They are all clinging to grass and attaching to trees, unaware and unenlightened, heading ever deeper into delusion." Miaoxi said: "Donglin Zhaojue took the view that an ordinary, undisturbed mind—free from establishing views and interpretations—is the Way, without seeking further sublime awakening. Yet he dismissed the direct insight into one's true nature taught by all Buddhas and Patriarchs as mere fabrication, slandering the ancient sages and deafening and blinding later generations. Those who lack strength in their eyes and blood in their skin blindly follow this distorted view, complacently unaware—truly pitiable. The \*Sutra of Perfect Enlightenment\* says, 'Sentient beings of the final age, though they seek good spiritual friends, may encounter those with wrong views and fail to attain true awakening—these are called followers of heretical paths. The error lies with the misguided teachers, not with the sentient beings.' How could these be empty words?"
