玄太法師者。新羅人也。梵名薩婆慎若提婆唐云一切智天永徽年內取吐蕃道。經泥波羅到中印度。禮菩提樹詳檢經論。旋踵東土行至土谷渾。逢道希師覆相引致。還向大覺寺後歸唐國。莫知所終矣。

> Master Hyentae was a man of Silla (ancient Korea). His Sanskrit name was Sarvajñadeva,\[note\] Transcribed in Tang as "All-Wise Heavenly One"\[/note\] meaning "Heavenly One of All Knowledge." During the Yonghui era (650-655 CE), he traveled through Tibet via Nepal, eventually reaching central India. There he paid homage to the Bodhi Tree and thoroughly studied Buddhist scriptures and treatises. On his journey back east, he arrived at Tuyuhun (a Central Asian kingdom), where he met Master Daoxi. Together they joined forces, and Daoxi led him to the Great Enlightenment Temple (Mahabodhi Temple). Later, Hyentae returned to the Tang Empire. His final whereabouts remain unknown.
