揵陀勒者，本西域人，來至洛陽積年。眾雖敬其風操，而終莫能測。後謂眾僧曰：「洛東南有槃鵄山，山有古寺廟處，基墌猶存，可共修立。」眾未之信，試逐檢視。入山到一處，四面平坦，勒示云：「此即寺基也。」即掘之，果得寺下石基。後示講堂僧房處，如言皆驗。眾咸驚歎，因共修立，以勒為寺主。

> Kandhala was originally from the Western Regions and had lived in Luoyang for many years. Although everyone respected his character and conduct, no one could truly fathom his depths. Later, he said to the monks, "To the southeast of Luoyang lies Mount Panchi, where an ancient temple once stood. Its foundation stones still remain—we could rebuild it together." The monks were skeptical but decided to go and see for themselves. When they entered the mountain and arrived at a spot, flat on all sides, Kandhala pointed and said, "This is where the temple's foundation lies." They dug and indeed found the stone base of the old temple below. He then indicated where the lecture hall and monks' quarters had been, and everything matched his words exactly. All the monks were astonished and full of admiration. Together they rebuilt the temple, making Kandhala its head abbot.

寺去洛城一百餘里，朝朝至洛陽諸寺赴中，暮輒乞油一鉢，還寺然燈。以此為常，未曾違失。有人健行，欲隨勒觀其遲疾，奔馳流汗，恒苦不及。勒令執袈裟角，唯聞厲風之響，不復覺倦，須臾至寺。勒後不知所終。

> The temple was over a hundred li from Luoyang city. Every morning, the monk would go to the various temples in Luoyang for the midday meal, and in the evening he would always beg for a bowl of oil, then return to his temple to light lamps. He did this regularly, never missing a day. There was a man who was a fast walker who wanted to follow the monk to see his speed. But even running and sweating, he could never keep up. The monk told him to hold onto the edge of his robe, and all he heard was the sound of fierce wind. He no longer felt tired and in an instant arrived at the temple. After that, no one knew what became of the monk.
