大龍王重重廣海無盡大藏大決擇分第十
Chapter 10: Great Dragon King’s Vast, Boundless, and Inexhaustible Great Treasury of Great Discernment
如是已說深里出興地藏大龍王道路大決擇分，次當說大龍王重重廣海無盡大藏大決擇分。其相云何？偈曰：
Thus having explained the profound essence of the great path of discernment for the emergence of the Deep-Mystery Earth-Store Great Dragon King, we shall now turn to the great path of discernment for the infinite and vast treasury of the Dragon King's layered and boundless ocean. What is its nature? A verse says:
廣海大藏中， 總有三種重，
謂初中後重， 初重有二十，
二億十方界， 量法門大海。
二十種本藏， 各生一萬量，
各別百眷屬， 各生一千故，
是故數圓滿， 住心應觀察，
中後重倍此， 應廣通達故。
In the vast ocean of the great treasury, Three levels of importance can be found: The first, the middle, and the final. The first level contains twenty, Equal to a billion worlds in all directions, Measuring the great ocean of teachings.
Each of the twenty root treasuries Gives rise to ten thousand measures, And each has a hundred separate attendants, Each producing a thousand. Thus the numbers are complete, And one should observe with a settled mind.
The middle and final levels double this— Therefore, you should understand broadly.
論曰：就大龍王重重廣海無盡大藏之自家中，總有三重能攝諸位。云何為三？一者初第一有重、二者中安住居重、三者後建立轉重，是名為三。就第一重中則有二十二億十方世界之量種種勝妙法門大海。此義云何？謂二十種本藏法中，一一各各出生一萬法門大海，各各別別百眷屬中一一各各出生一千法門海故。以此義故，名字圓滿、義理具足。如其次第安住其心、定止其思，聰明觀察其數量理及所詮意現了分明，如偈「廣海大藏中，總有三種重，謂初中後重，初重有二十二億十方界量法門大海，二十種本藏各生一萬量，各別百眷屬各生一千故，是故數圓滿，住心應觀察」故。次二種重，如其次第倍前普布，應廣通達，如偈「中後重倍此，應廣通達故」故。《大摩尼寶藏陀羅尼修集修多羅》中作如是說：「龍龍地地大無盡海藏中，有多十方之量法門軌則品類，最初名為轉大法論具足一海無極無盡引導光明現照地地本業本用出生增長軌則大海法門，最後名為有性無性無我空理大利益廣光明亦離脫亦合轉具足具足無邊摩訶行種地本藏法雨騰門出興上味品類法門。唯取一界以為譬喻，非取塵等。」乃至廣說故。
The treatise says: Within the vast, inexhaustible ocean treasury of the Great Dragon King, there are in total three levels that encompass all stages. What are these three? First, the initial level; second, the middle level of abiding; third, the final level of transformation. These are called the three levels.
Within the first initial level, there are twenty-two billion worlds’ worth of various sublime teachings, like a great ocean. What does this mean? Within the twenty original treasury teachings, each one gives rise to ten thousand teaching methods like an ocean; and further, each of the hundred satellites of each teaching gives rise to a thousand teaching methods like an ocean. Therefore, the forms are complete and the principles are fully realized. In proper order, calm the mind, steady the thoughts, and with clear intelligence observe the numbers and the intended meanings until they are clearly understood. As the verse says:
"In the vast ocean treasury, There are three levels: initial, middle, final. The first level contains twenty-two billion worlds' worth of teachings like an ocean: From twenty original treasures each arises ten thousand methods; From each of their hundred satellites each arises a thousand methods. Thus the numbers are complete; calm your mind and observe."
Next, for the middle and final levels, following the same pattern, they are each broadened and spread out twice as much as the previous, and one should thoroughly understand this. As the verse says:
"The middle and final levels double this; One should thoroughly understand this."
Thus it is taught in The Great Mani Jewel Treasury Dharani Practice and Cultivation Sutra:
"Within the vast, infinite ocean treasury of the dragon realms, there exist many categories and methods of teachings equal to the measure of ten directions. The first is called 'The Great Turning of the Dharma Wheel, Perfectly One Ocean, Infinite and Inexhaustible, Guiding Light, Illuminating the Original Works and Uses of All Stages, the Teaching Method of Growth and Progress.' The last is called 'The Great Benefit Radiant Light of Emptiness, Selflessness, and the Principle of No-Self Both in Beings and Non-Beings, Which Also Liberates and Also Transforms, Perfectly Complete and Boundless, the Ocean Treasury of Great Conduct Stages, the Original Treasury Teachings, and the Uplifting Flavor-Category Methods of the Rain-Cloud Teachings.' Only one realm is taken as a metaphor, not the entirety of dust motes." And so on, extensively.
