Entering the Dharma Realm's Essential Nature Sutra
Translated by the Indian Tripitaka Master Jñānagupta during the Sui Dynasty.
At that time, the Bhagavan was on Vulture Peak in Rājagṛha, together with five hundred great bhikkhus. Then, in the first watch of the night, the youth Mañjuśrī came to where the Buddha was. Having arrived, he stood outside the Buddha's separate door. At that time, the Tathāgata was absorbed in samādhi. Then, the World-Honored One emerged from samādhi and saw the youth Mañjuśrī standing outside the separate door. Seeing him, he said: "Mañjuśrī! Come, come. Enter within; do not remain outside."
Then, hearing the Buddha's words, the youth Manjushri said to the Buddha: "Excellent, World-Honored One." He then approached the Buddha. Upon arriving, he bowed his head at the Buddha's feet, then stepped back and stood to one side.
At that time, the World-Honored One said to the youth Manjushri, "You may take your seat."
Then the youth Manjushri replied, "Very well, World-Honored One, I respectfully accept your instruction." He pressed his palms together toward the Buddha, then withdrew and sat to one side.
The Buddha said to Manjushri, "It is like a great wish-fulfilling jewel. Once it has been well polished and placed in a pure location, it will produce endless treasures according to the place where it is set. In the same way, Manjushri, while abiding in this samadhi, I look to the east and see measureless, countless worlds with Buddhas presently dwelling there—Tathagatas, Arhats, Fully Enlightened Ones. So too in the south, west, and north, the four intermediate directions, above and below—in all ten directions, across measureless, countless worlds, I see them all appear. These Tathagatas abide in this samadhi and teach the Dharma for the sake of beings.
Manjushri, while abiding in this samadhi, I do not see a single dharma that is not the Dharmadhatu. Manjushri, this samadhi is also called the Seal of Ultimate Reality. If any sincere man or woman practices this seal, their eloquence will never be exhausted."
