Visualization of the Dharmakaya
When contemplating the Dharmakaya, you have already seen the Buddha's physical form in emptiness. Now, based on that physical form, you should contemplate the inner Dharmakaya—the Ten Powers, the Four Fearlessnesses, great loving-kindness, great compassion, and countless good deeds.
It is like someone who first thinks of a golden vase, then contemplates the mani jewel inside it. For this reason, it is supremely wondrous, with divine insight beyond compare—no far or near, no difficulty or ease, and unlimited worlds appear before you as if right in front of you. There is not a single person outside of it, and all phenomena are fully understood.
You should always focus your mind, not letting it scatter. If your mind wanders to other thoughts, bring it back. Moreover, all beings—whether wise or foolish—at the time of death lose their senses, as if falling into a dark pit. Even if they could cry out, their voice might reach the Brahma heavens. The great power, great suffering, great terror, and great fear have no equal to the thief of death. Only the Buddha alone has the power to rescue and save, granting all kinds of human and heavenly joys, even the joy of nirvana.
Furthermore, throughout their lives, all Buddhas have never begrudged their own bodies or lives for the sake of all beings. For example, when Shakyamuni Buddha was a prince in a past life, he went out traveling and saw a leper on the road. He ordered a physician to treat him. The physician said, "This requires drinking the blood of someone who never feels anger and applying their marrow as ointment. Only then can he be cured." The prince thought, "Such a person is hard to find. Even if I found one, it would be unbearable." So he offered his own body to be used for the treatment. The Buddha treats all beings in the same way.
The Buddha's grace is deeper than that of parents. Even if all beings were your parents, the Buddha's share would still be one part of two. You should always remember the Buddha, not any other thought.
These are the many virtues to contemplate. Whatever you focus on, if your concentration is steady, you can sever all ties and attachments, and even attain the realization of non-arising (anutpattikadharma-kṣānti). Should any afflictions arise in the process, treat them according to the illness—apply the appropriate remedy.
If you cannot achieve meditative concentration, you may still become the foremost and most honored in the Six Desire Heavens, flying wherever you wish with palaces and mansions following you. Or you may be reborn in the presence of the Buddhas—this will never be in vain. It is like someone mixing medicine with copper: even if it does not turn into gold, at least it becomes silver.
