Sutra of the Twelve Names of the Great Auspicious Goddess
This is what I heard:
At one time, the Bhagavān was dwelling in the Land of Ultimate Bliss, surrounded by an immeasurable assembly of great bodhisattvas, and was expounding the Dharma. At that time, the great bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, the great bodhisattva Mahāśrī Devī, and others rose from their seats, approached the World-Honored One, bowed their heads at his feet, and each sat to one side. Then, wishing to benefit sentient beings of little merit and poverty, the World-Honored One addressed the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, saying: "Good man! If there are any sentient beings—bhikṣus, bhikṣuṇīs, upāsakas, upāsikās—who know these twelve names of Mahāśrī Devī, and are able to receive, uphold, recite, practice, make offerings, and proclaim them to others, they will be able to dispel all karmic obstacles of poverty and attain great wealth, abundance, and treasure."
Then, the assembly of gods, dragons, and the eightfold retinue spoke in unison, saying: "As the World-Honored One has said, it is true and not false. We wish to hear the twelve names. We beseech the World-Honored One, in his great compassion, to proclaim them."
The Buddha said: "Listen well, I shall now proclaim them for you. They are: Auspiciousness, Auspicious Lotus, Adorned, Endowed with Wealth, White, Great Renown, Lotus-Eyed, Great Radiance, Bestower of Food, Bestower of Drink, Jewel-Light, and Great Auspiciousness. These are the twelve names. You should receive and uphold them. I shall now also proclaim the great auspicious dhāraṇī:"
Tadyathā, Śrīṇi śrīṇi, Sarva-kārya-sādhani, Siddha siddha, Buddha buddha, Araksmiṇaśāya svāhā.
Then the World-Honored One, having spoken this dhāraṇī, addressed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, saying: "This Great Auspiciousness Dhāraṇī and the twelve names can eliminate poverty and all inauspiciousness. All wishes and prayers will be perfectly fulfilled. If one can recite this sutra three times a day—morning, noon, and evening—three repetitions each time, or continuously uphold it without interruption, and with a mind of benefit, sincerely make offerings according to one’s ability to the Great Auspiciousness Goddess Bodhisattva, one will swiftly obtain all treasures, abundant wealth, auspiciousness, peace, and happiness."
At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, together with the great assembly—gods, dragons, and the eightfold pantheon—having heard from the Buddha these twelve names and the dhāraṇī, marveled as never before, rejoiced greatly, and faithfully accepted and practiced accordingly.
Sutra of the Twelve Names of the Goddess Mahashri
The Buddha said: "Those who see the Way are like someone holding a torch who enters a dark room, dispelling the darkness so that only brightness remains. When you study the Way and see the truth, ignorance and delusion vanish, and all that remains is wisdom."
