Sutra of the Dhāraṇī That Eliminates All Illnesses Translated by the Tripitaka Master Amoghavajra of the Tang Dynasty, this is an important scripture of Esoteric Buddhism. The sutra records the Buddha proclaiming for sentient beings a dhāraṇī mantra to eliminate illness, aiming through the recitation of the mantra to eradicate physical and mental suffering and to increase health, blessings, and longevity. The text emphasizes both the divine power of the mantra and the necessity of faith and practice, reflecting the characteristic Tang Dynasty Esoteric Buddhist focus on worldly benefits. Within Buddhism, this sutra is regarded as a key source for healing and disaster-averting methods, embodying the Dharma's compassionate concern for the real sufferings of sentient beings. It remains valued by practitioners to this day.
