Second story: Monk Huì Yán from Tiān Xiāng Temple in Zhū Fāng, his local name Dá Xī, once traveled to Guāng Zhái Temple and was blessed by the Dharma. When he suddenly heard of Master Zhìzhě's passing, he mourned for days, respectfully longing for the master's sacred spirit. Where in this life could he be? Therefore, he wrote the Lotus Sutra, hoping for a hidden sign from beyond.
After contemplating for several ten-day periods, he dreamed of Guanyin, a towering seven-storied pagoda, radiant and majestic, surpassing all descriptions. Master Zhìzhě's form followed Guanyin, coming from the west. In the dream, Huì Yán paid his respects. Then Master Zhìzhě said to him, "Have your doubts been resolved?" Huì Yán kept this vision in his heart, speaking of it to no one. Later, meeting Guàn Dǐng, he finally understood: when nearing death, Guanyin had guided him. The events aligned perfectly, bringing endless joy and sighing wonder.
