### 南晉陵寺釋令玉尼傳九

令玉，本姓蔡，建康人也。少出家，住何后寺禪房，為淨曜尼弟子。淨曜律行純白，思業過人，玉少事師長恭勤匪懈。始受十戒，威儀可觀，及受具足，禁行清白有若氷霜。博尋五部，妙究幽宗，雅能傳述。宋邵陵王大相欽敬，請為南晉陵寺主，固讓不當。王不能屈，以啟元徽，元徽再勅，事不獲免。在任積年，不矜而莊，不厲而威。年七十六，梁天監八年卒。寺復有令惠、戒忍、慧力，並顯名。令惠誦《妙法蓮華》、《維摩》、《勝鬘》等經，勤身蔬飯，卓然眾表。戒忍聰朗好學，經目不忘。惠力雅識虛通，無所矯競。

> Lingyu, whose lay surname was Cai, was from Jiankang. She left home at a young age to become a nun, residing in the meditation quarters of Hehou Temple as a disciple of the nun Jingyao. Jingyao’s conduct in the monastic rules was pure and unblemished, and her mental cultivation surpassed others. From an early age, Lingyu served her teacher with diligence and never slacked off. After receiving the ten precepts, her demeanor was impressive, and upon full ordination, her adherence to the precepts was spotless, pure as ice and frost. She extensively studied the five divisions of the Vinaya and deeply explored their subtle principles, becoming skilled in transmitting and explaining them. Prince of Shaoling of the Song dynasty greatly admired and respected her, inviting her to serve as the abbess of Nanjinling Temple, but she firmly declined, feeling unworthy. The prince could not force her and reported the matter to the emperor during the Yuanhui reign. The emperor issued two decrees, and eventually she had no choice but to accept the position. She served as abbess for many years, being dignified without arrogance and authoritative without harshness. She passed away at the age of seventy
