Three Treatises Commentary (An'en's Record) is a Buddhist commentary composed by the Japanese Sanron School monk An'en during the Nara period of Japan. This work systematically annotates the fundamental treatises of the Indian Madhyamaka school: Nāgārjuna Bodhisattva's *Mūlamadhyamakakārikā (Treatise on the Middle Way)* and *Dvādaśanikāya Śāstra (Twelve Gate Treatise)*, as well as Āryadeva's *Śata Śāstra (Hundred Verses Treatise)*, elucidating the Prajñāpāramitā thought of the emptiness of all dharmas and correct contemplation of non-attainment. As an important text of the Japanese Sanron School, it not only transmits the lineage of the Chinese master Jizang of Jiaxiang, but also interprets the teachings in light of the development of Japanese Buddhism. It has exerted a profound influence on the study of Buddhist doctrine in the Nara period and remains a key text for researching Sino-Japanese Buddhist intellectual exchange and the development of the Sanron School.
