It is characterized by permanence, bliss, true self, and purity. There is a connection with the Buddha Dharma. I take refuge in the Great Perfection of Wisdom. It is the great divine mantra. I take refuge in the Great Perfection of Wisdom. It is the great bright mantra. I take refuge in the Great Perfection of Wisdom. It is the supreme mantra. I take refuge in the Great Perfection of Wisdom. It is the unequalled mantra. I take refuge in the Buddha of Pure Light and Secret Teachings. The Buddha of the Dharma Treasury. The Buddha with the Lion's Roar and Divine Feet, the Sovereign Buddha. The Buddha who instructed King Sumeru. The Dharma-Protecting Buddha. The Vajra-Treasury Lion at Play Buddha. The Buddha of Precious Victory. The Buddha of Spiritual Powers. The Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Radiance King Buddha. The Buddha of Universal Light, Merit Mountain King. The Buddha of Well-Abiding Precious Merit King. The Seven Buddhas of the Past. The Thousand Buddhas of the Future Auspicious Aeon. The Fifteen Hundred Buddhas. The Fifteen Thousand Buddhas. In the East: The Precious Light Moon Palace, Sublimely Revered Sound King Buddha. In the South: The Tree-Root Flower King Buddha. In the West: The Dark King, Spiritual Power Blazing Flower Buddha. In the North: The Moon Palace Purity Buddha. Above: The Inumerable Diligent Precious Leader Buddha. Below: The Auspicious Serene Moon Sound King Buddha. The Immeasurable Buddhas. The Buddha of Many Treasures. Shakyamuni Buddha. Maitreya Buddha. Akshobhya Buddha. Amitabha Buddha. All sentient beings in the center, within the worlds of the Buddhas, whether walking on the earth or dwelling in the empty sky, have compassion and concern for all beings, granting each peace, stability, and rest. Day and night they practice, their minds constantly seeking to recite this sutra, which can extinguish the suffering of birth and death and subdue all poison and harm. Homage to the Great Bright Guanyin. The Clearly Seeing Guanyin. The Exalted Guanyin. The Illuminating Guanyin. Medicine King Bodhisattva. Supreme Medicine Bodhisattva. Manjushri Bodhisattva. Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. Akashagarbha Bodhisattva. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. The hundreds of millions of Bodhisattvas of the Cool Precious Mountain. The Transformation-Victory Bodhisattva of Universal Light Tathagata. Recite this verse thought after thought. The Seven World-Honored Buddhas then spoke the mantra, saying:
Liberate, liberate, O Lord. Seek, seek, O Lord. Holder of the mantra, O Lord. Great protector, O Lord. Pure and stainless, O Lord. Greatly compassionate, O Lord. True spirit, sincere and devout, O Lord. Svaha.
Guanyin of the Ten Directions, all Bodhisattvas, vow to rescue sentient beings.
Those who call their names will be freed. If there are those with wisdom, diligently explain this to them.
For all who have the karmic connection, recite without ceasing. Recite the sutra a thousand times,
With each thought uninterrupted. Flames cannot harm them, weapons are instantly broken.
Anger transforms into joy, the dead return to life. Do not say this is empty,
The Buddhas do not speak falsely.
The Sutra Spoken by the Buddha on Avalokitesvara, the King of High Merit
The Noble King Avalokitesvara Can rescue from all suffering and peril. In moments of extreme crisis and danger, The dead may be restored to life. The words of the Buddhas are never false— Therefore we should bow in reverence. Recite this a full thousand times, And all grave offenses will be dissolved. Those of little merit or faith, Devotedly offer and uphold this sutra.
Recite the names of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas.
I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Guanyin. I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Maitreya. I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Akashagarbha. I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Samantabhadra. I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Vajrapani. I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Manjushri. I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Sarvanivarana-Vishkambhin. I take refuge in the great bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. I take refuge in all the honored great bodhisattvas.
May this merit and virtue extend to all beings.
By reciting it a thousand times, even grave offenses are extinguished.
