Golden Dharani Sutra
Thus have I heard. At one time, the Blessed One was dwelling in a place surrounded by a fence, together with the Yaksha leaders and Vajrapani.
At that time, the god Shih (Shakra), also known as Baishi, came to the World-Honored One. Upon arriving, he prostrated himself at the Buddha’s feet, then stepped back and sat to one side. The heavenly king Baishi said to the Buddha: “World-Honored One, when I enter the battlefield and engage in combat, relying on the illusory spells, curses, and herbal powers of the Asuras, I am often defeated. Please, World-Honored One, out of compassion for me, teach the supreme and great secret mantra to subdue the Asuras’ illusory spells, curses, and herbal powers.”
At that time, the Bhagavān said to the heavenly king Baishi: “Kauśika, indeed, indeed, when battling the Asuras, you are truly defeated by their potent spells, secret mantras, and herbal powers. Kauśika, out of compassion, I now teach you a luminous mantra, intending to dispel illusions and curses, to dissolve all conflicts and disputes, and to sever all secret mantras and herbs. Listen to the luminous mantra.”
Then the Bhagavān proclaimed the great golden luminous mantra, saying: “I now proclaim that over three immeasurable eons, all those heterodox practitioners who wandered with distorted forms, giving rise to evil thoughts and creating obstacles—from them, I have come to subdue all illusory luminous mantras. Having perfected the Six Perfections, I sever all disturbances caused by heterodox practitioners with distorted forms, through luminous mantras, secret mantras, herbs, and all factions of Māra’s hosts. Kauśika, you should uphold this most supreme great secret mantra for the benefit of all sentient beings.”
The heavenly king replied: “Yes, World-Honored One, I receive your teaching.” Then the World-Honored One spoke the great golden luminous mantra:

Kauśika, if a good man or a good woman, whether a king or a king's minister, can recall this Golden Bright Mantra, they will have no other fears. Their faction will not be harassed by enemy armies. Neither gods, nor nāgas, nor yakṣas, nor gandharvas, nor asuras, nor kiṃnaras, nor mahoragas, nor mantra-holders, nor flying mothers, can harm them. Untimely death cannot strike, nor can life-extending mantras, secret spells, or any medicines cause harm. Enemy armies cannot surround or take their lives. Swords cannot wound them. Water, fire, poisons, medicines, mantras, secret spells—none can invade them. Any wrongdoing they have committed, encouraged, or rejoiced in will fall back upon the place where it was done.
Kauśika, therefore, faithful monks, nuns, laymen, laywomen, good men, and good women should recite this mantra over water seven times and wash themselves with it to protect their bodies. If one wishes to transcend all fears, all disturbances, all epidemics, all mantras, all secret spells, all medicines, and all curses, they should recall this Golden Bright Mantra. If a king or a king's minister wishes to defeat or subdue another's army, they too should recall this Golden Bright Mantra.
If one recites this mantra over thread seven times and ties seven knots, then binds it to the body, or if one recites it over water seven times, it will protect the body. If one writes out this dhāraṇī that is unimpeded against all fears, or recites it, or ties it below the shin, or places it on a tall banner and enters an army formation, they will safely escape. Through the majestic power of this Golden Mantra, one's family and relatives will safely pass beyond. What has not yet been accomplished will come to be accomplished.
If one wishes to overcome all other mantra-holders, one should recite the mantra seven times over white thread and tie seven knots—this can subdue them. If one wishes to overcome illusions, one should take earth from a charnel ground, recite the mantra over it seven times, and scatter it—this can destroy illusions. When disputing and wanting to silence others, one may take qin qiuli, recite the mantra over it seven times, and chew it—then one can respond to all arguments.
Those who recite, uphold, and praise this mantra will have all their sins eradicated. For those who bind it to a rope or use it with water for self-protection, no mantras, secret spells, or medicines can harm their bodies. What has not been accomplished will be fully accomplished, and everything they seek will come to pass in accordance with their wishes.
Then the Blessed One, having spoken this sūtra, concluded. The lord of heaven, Śatakratu, having heard the Buddha's teaching, received it with faith and put it into practice.
