姚秦三藏法師鳩摩羅什奉　詔譯

> Translated by the Tripitaka Master Kumarajiva of the Yao Qin Dynasty, by imperial decree.

爾時世主，姓姚名萇，建國關輔，名曰大秦。佛經律論，名為三藏。藏者藏也，藏心性識，及戒定慧。佛之所修，真常大義，能通法性，為世所師，故曰法師。鳩摩羅什，此云童壽，本丘慈人，師性明敏。童子之年，有壽者智，奉秦王詔，譯梵成華。

> At that time, the ruler of the land, Yao Chang by name, established his kingdom in the Guanzhong region and named it Great Qin. The Buddha's teachings—sutras, vinaya, and abhidharma—are called the "Three Treasuries." A "treasury" contains and preserves the mind, nature, consciousness, as well as discipline, concentration, and wisdom. What the Buddha cultivated is the true and everlasting principle, which can penetrate the nature of reality and serve as a teacher for the world; thus, one who embodies this is called a "Dharma Master." Kumarajiva, whose name means "Youth with the wisdom of old age," was originally from Kucha. His nature was bright and keen. Even in his childhood years, he possessed the wisdom of an elder. At the command of the King of Qin, he translated the Sanskrit texts into Chinese.
