### 示王心葵

法華一經殷勤稱歎方便。須知有世間方便。布施愛語孝弟忠信等是也。有出世間方便。苦空無常無我不淨數息因緣遠離知足等法門是也。有出世上上方便。十波羅蜜四攝四辨八萬四千三昧總持等是也。有不思議勝異方便。信自性中實有西方現成佛道之彌陀如來。唯心中實有莊嚴之極樂世界。深心宏願。決志求生。不唯上上方便是其資糧。將世出世一切方便無非往生左券。此法門中。點鐵成金手段。不歷僧祇。頓階不退。名絕待法也。

> In the Lotus Sutra, the Buddha repeatedly praises skillful means. You should understand that there is worldly skillful means—such as giving, kind words, filial piety, brotherly respect, loyalty, and trustworthiness. There is also transcendental skillful means—such as the teachings on suffering, emptiness, impermanence, no-self, impurity, breath counting, dependent origination, renunciation, and contentment. And there is the highest transcendental skillful means—the ten perfections, the four means of attraction, the four types of eloquence, the eighty-four thousand meditative absorptions, and the total retention practices. Furthermore, there is the inconceivable and supremely wondrous skillful means: believing that within one's own nature, the Tathagata Amitabha truly exists as the accomplished Buddha in the West; and that within one's own mind, the adorned Pure Land truly exists. With deep resolve and vast vows, one resolutely aspires to be reborn there. Not only does the highest skillful means become its provision, but all worldly and transcendental skillful means serve as the tokens guaranteeing rebirth. In this Dharma-gate, it is the method of transforming iron into gold. Without passing through countless eons, one suddenly attains the stage of non-retrogression. This is called the immediate, unconditioned Dharma.
