"Record of All Dharmas Returning to the Mind," authored by Master Chaoming, is an important Chan (Zen) text from the Qing Dynasty, completed during the Kangxi era. The book systematically explains the Chan school's teachings on mind and nature in a question-and-answer format, integrating the essential principles of doctrinal schools, Chan, and Pure Land Buddhism. It emphasizes the core practice that all phenomena arise from the mind and that awakening is realized through illuminating the mind and seeing one's true nature. Its content covers the analysis of Chan principles, stages of practice, and resolving attachments and doubts, using concise language to convey profound meaning. As a comprehensive work of Ming and Qing dynasty Chan studies, it is not only a vital text for researching the mind-nature theory in Chinese Buddhism but has also deeply influenced later Chan meditation practice, praised as a guide for students of the Chan tradition.
