The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Haiyin Zhaoru was compiled by his disciples Xingchun, Daozhang, and Congxin during the Ming Dynasty. It contains the teachings and dialogues of Haiyin Zhaoru, a master of the Linji school of Chan Buddhism. The text covers essential methods of meditation, the cultivation of mind and nature, and daily practice, reflecting the Linji school's direct approach to pointing at the mind and realizing one's inherent Buddha-nature. As an important Chan document from the Ming Dynasty, this work not only preserves the teachings of the Linji tradition but also serves as a key resource for understanding the practices and atmosphere of Chan communities at the time. It holds significant value for both academic study and practical cultivation in Buddhist history.
