### 提綱舉佛號三聲。三鳴尺。三問訊。大眾默坐聽講

世界何緣稱極樂 只因眾苦不能侵道人若要尋歸路 但向塵中了自心

> Why is this world called "Ultimate Bliss"? Only because no suffering can reach it. If a seeker wishes to find the way home, Just look within the dust of this world — and know your own mind.

夫心心即佛。醍醐酥酪。咸自乳生。佛佛惟心。釵釧瓶盤。盡從金出。十萬程。東西不隔。二六時。凡聖同途。一合掌。一低頭。碧玉毫。星明日麗。一讚揚。一歌詠。紫金容。霆震雷轟。清涼月。有水皆含。功德雲。無山不戴。一稱嘉號。越二死。揵如香象之渡河。再舉洪名。厭眾鳥。宛類頻伽之出㲉。音樂奏時行樹密。水禽飛處藕花多。芬陀梨。優鉢曇。向清旦滿盛衣裓。白硨磲。紅碼碯引陽春間錯樓臺。羣情惟忖以難思。一念回光而易往。究竟不居心外。分明只在目前。審如是。即今眾等。繫念阿彌陀佛萬德洪名。三時佛事。只如不涉證修。親蒙授記一句。如何舉揚。

> The mind itself is Buddha—just as ghee and cheese all come from milk. Buddha after Buddha is nothing but mind, just as all ornaments, from hairpins to vases, are made from gold. Though the Pure Land is a hundred thousand miles away, east and west are not separate. Through the twelve hours of the day, ordinary beings and sages walk the same path. With a single pressed palm or a bowed head, the azure curls of the Buddha shine like stars in a bright sun. With one word of praise or a song of honor, his purple-golden form roars like thunder and shakes like lightning. The cool moon of his wisdom is reflected in every body of water. The clouds of his merit cover every mountain without exception. When we call out his sacred name once, we cross the two deaths as easily as a fragrant elephant crosses a river. When we chant his great name again, we leave behind the common flock, like the kalavinka bird emerging from its shell. When the music plays, the rows of trees grow dense. Where water birds fly, lotus flowers bloom in abundance. The pundarika and utpala flowers fill our robes at dawn. White mother-of-pearl and red carnelian inlay the towers that adorn the spring air. Sentient beings ponder this, finding it hard to grasp, yet with a single thought turning back to the light, they easily reach the Pure Land. Ultimately, it is not outside the mind—clearly, it is right here before us. If this is so, then all of you here, as you focus on Amitabha's name of infinite virtues, engaging in the three periods of Buddha-work, how do you raise a phrase that goes beyond cultivation and certification, and personally receive a prophecy?

風吟樹樹千般樂 香浸池池四色花

> The chanting breeze in every tree brings a thousand joys; Fragrance fills each pond, where four-colored flowers bloom.
