> Reply in Verse to the Venerable Master Yupo of the Former Cause

霅溪深處掃閑扉。祖佛無心更欲為。離相本來還離性。無禪畢竟亦無師。虗檐竹動風生處。遠嶺雲開月上時。萬象熾然常演說。山翁那用折松枝。

> In the deep recesses of Zha Creek, I sweep the idle gate. Ancestors and Buddhas, with no mind, seek nothing more. To transcend forms is to transcend nature itself; Without meditation, ultimately there is no teacher. Where bamboo rustles on the empty eaves and wind arises, When clouds part on distant ridges and the moon ascends— All phenomena blaze forth, forever proclaiming the Dharma. Why would this mountain elder need to snap a pine branch?
