The *Records of Dharma Joy of Eminent Figures*, compiled by the Ming dynasty scholar Xia Shufang, was completed during the Wanli era. This work collects anecdotes and insights into Buddhist practice from renowned scholars across the Han to Song dynasties, such as Wang Wei, Bai Juyi, and Su Shi, illustrating the integration of the literati class with Buddhist teachings. Its content primarily focuses on interactions between eminent monks and lay Buddhist scholars, highlighting the profound influence of the Dharma on secular life. As an important text for studying Chinese Buddhist history and the Buddhist faith among literati, it not only reflects the syncretic intellectual background of the Three Teachings in the Ming dynasty but also provides valuable historical material for understanding the trend of Buddhist study among scholar-officials in later generations, holding unique cultural significance within Buddhist literature.
