### 心得開明第三十四

> Chapter 34: The Heart Opens with Understanding

彌勒白言：「佛語教戒，甚深甚善。皆蒙慈恩，解脫憂苦。佛為法王，尊超羣聖。光明徹照，洞達無極，普為一切天人之師。今得值佛，復聞無量壽聲，靡不歡喜，心得開明。」佛告彌勒：「敬於佛者，是為大善。實當念佛，截斷狐疑、拔諸愛欲、杜眾惡源，遊步三界無所罣碍，開示正道度未度者。若曹當知十方人民永劫以來，輾轉五道憂苦不絕，生時苦痛、老亦苦痛、病極苦痛、死極苦痛，惡臭不淨，無可樂者。宜自決斷，洗除心垢，言行忠信，表裏相應。人能自度，轉相拯濟。至心求願，積累善本。雖一世精進勤苦，須臾間耳；後生無量壽國，快樂無極。永拔生死之本、無復苦惱之患，壽千萬劫，自在隨意。宜各精進，求心所願。無得疑悔，自為過咎，生彼邊地七寶城中，於五百歲受諸厄也。」彌勒白言：「受佛明誨，專精修學。如教奉行，不敢有疑。」

> Maitreya said to the Buddha: "The teachings and admonitions you have given are profound and excellent. Through your compassionate grace, we are liberated from suffering and worry. The Buddha is the King of Dharma, whose honor surpasses all sages. Your light shines everywhere, reaching without limit, and you are the teacher of all beings in heaven and on earth. Now that we have encountered the Buddha and heard the teaching on Amitayus, all of us rejoice with open and enlightened minds." The Buddha told Maitreya: "To revere the Buddha is the greatest good. Indeed, you should practice Buddha Recitation, cut off all doubt, uproot desires and attachments, and seal off the sources of evil. Walk freely through the three realms without hindrance, revealing the right path to deliver those not yet saved. You should know that beings everywhere, throughout endless eons, have wandered through the five realms of existence with unceasing suffering. Birth brings pain, old age brings pain, sickness brings intense pain, and death is extremely painful. Their bodies are foul and impure, holding nothing to delight in. You must make firm decisions, wash away the defilements of the mind, speak and act with honesty and integrity, and let your inner thoughts match your outer conduct. One who can liberate oneself should then rescue others. With sincere hearts, make vows and accumulate roots of goodness. Though one may strive diligently for a single lifetime, it is but a brief moment; afterward, you will be born in the Land of Immeasurable Life, where joy is boundless. You will uproot the source of birth-and-death forever, suffer no more afflictions, and live for millions of eons in freedom and ease. Each of you should be diligent and seek what your heart desires. Do not doubt or regret, lest you create your own faults, being born in the borderlands within cities of seven treasures, where you will endure hardships for five hundred years." Maitreya said: "We accept the Buddha's clear instruction and will devote ourselves single-mindedly to study and practice. We will follow the teachings and uphold them faithfully, harboring no doubt."
