### 受菩提記第四十四

> Chapter 44: Receiving the Prophecy of Enlightenment

「若於來世，乃至正法滅時，當有眾生植諸善本，已曾供養無量諸佛。由彼如來加威力故，能得如是廣大法門，攝取受持，當獲廣大一切智智。於彼法中廣大勝解，獲大歡喜，廣為他說，常樂修行。諸善男子及善女人，能於是法，若已求、現求、當求者，皆獲善利。汝等應當安住無疑，種諸善本，應常修習，使無疑滯，不入一切種類珍寶成就牢獄。阿逸多！如是等類大威德者，能生佛法廣大異門。由於此法不聽聞故，有一億菩薩退轉阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。若有眾生於此經典，書寫、供養、受持、讀誦，於須臾頃為他演說、勸令聽聞，不生憂惱，乃至晝夜思惟彼剎及佛功德，於無上道終不退轉。彼人臨終，假使三千大千世界滿中大火，亦能超過，生彼國土。是人已曾值過去佛受菩提記，一切如來同所稱讚。是故應當專心信受、持誦、說行。」

> "O Maitreya, in the future age, even when the true Dharma is about to fade, there will be beings who have planted good roots, having already made offerings to countless Buddhas. Through the empowering strength of those Tathagatas, they will be able to obtain this vast and profound teaching, take it up, uphold it, and gain the vast wisdom of omniscience. They will develop a profound understanding of this teaching, experience great joy, teach it widely to others, and constantly delight in practice. Good men and good women who seek this teaching—whether they have sought it in the past, are seeking it now, or will seek it in the future—will all obtain great benefits. You should dwell in this with unwavering confidence, plant good roots, and continually cultivate so that no doubt or hesitation arises, and you will not fall into any kind of prison that imprisons even precious attainments. Maitreya, those of great power and majesty like this can give rise to the myriad gateways of the Buddha's teaching. Yet because they do not hear this teaching, a hundred million bodhisattvas will turn back from the supreme, perfect enlightenment. If any beings write out this sutra, make offerings to it, uphold it, or recite it—even if only for a moment—and explain it to others, encouraging them to listen, without giving rise to worry or distress, and even contemplate that Buddha realm and the Buddha's merits day and night, they will never regress from the unsurpassed path. At the time of such a person's death, even if the entire universe of a billion worlds were filled with great fire, they would be able to transcend it and be born in that Buddha land. Such a person has already encountered the Buddhas of the past and received prophecies of enlightenment, and is praised by all Tathagatas alike. Therefore, you should wholeheartedly accept, uphold, recite, and practice this teaching."
