### 竹園寺

> Bamboo Garden Temple

竹園寺在蔣陵里檀橋宋元嘉十一年臨川公主所造葢尼寺也時有尼慧濬請高僧曇無讖譯禪經於寺中云

> Bamboo Grove Temple was located in Tanqiao within Jiangling. In the eleventh year of the Yuanjia reign of the Song dynasty, it was built by Princess Linchuan. It was originally a nunnery. At that time, a nun named Huijun invited the eminent monk Tanwuchen to translate the meditation scriptures there.

建康實錄宋元嘉十一年置竹園寺西北去縣一里在今建康東尉蔣陵里檀橋案寺記宋臨川公主造宋河西曇無讖傳安陽侯者沮渠蒙遜從弟銳意內典逮魏滅涼乃南奔宋竹園寺尼慧濬請安陽出經安陽通習巳久臨筆無滯旬有七日出為五卷

> Record of Jiankang: In the eleventh year of the Yuanjia reign of the Liu Song dynasty, Zhuyuan (Bamboo Garden) Temple was established, located one li northwest of the county, in present-day Jiankang, in the Jiangling Ward within the Dongwei (Eastern Defense) area, at Tan Bridge. According to the temple records, it was founded by Princess Linchuan of the Song dynasty. The Biography of Tan Wuchen from Hexi (in the Song dynasty) states: The Marquis of Anyang was a cousin of Juqu Mengxun (the ruler of the Northern Liang dynasty). He was deeply devoted to the study of Buddhist scriptures. When the Wei dynasty conquered the Liang region, he fled south to the Song dynasty. Nuns at Zhuyuan Temple, led by Huijun, invited the Marquis of Anyang to translate scriptures. Having long been proficient in them, he wrote without hesitation, completing five volumes in just seventeen days.
