> Nanjian Temple

> The Nanjian Temple is situated beside the residence of He Shangzhi. His house faced the Southern Stream, also known as the "Dismounting Stream" <note place="inline">now the Xijie Stream Bridge outside the South Gate</note>. The temple stands in this area and is thus named after the stream. Eminent monks who resided here include Daojiong, Xianliang, and Zhicheng. He Qiu, a descendant of the He family, continued to live in the old residence and declined the imperial summons. Zhang Jingzhen, meanwhile, performed acts of personal sacrifice and held vegetarian feasts at this temple.
