> Outside the west gate of Luoyang, on the north side of the main road, there stands a three-story pagoda. Its base is made of stone, and its style is very ancient. The carvings and paintings were so skilled that the recluse Zhao Yi sighed when he saw it and said, "This is the Stone Pagoda Temple of the Jin dynasty, which is now the Light Treasure Temple." When people asked him why he said this, Zhao Yi replied, "Of the thirty-two temples from the Jin dynasty, all have been buried and destroyed. Only this one temple still survives." Pointing to a spot in the garden, he added, "Five paces in front of what used to be the bathhouse here, there should be a well." The monks dug there, and indeed found a house and a well. Although the well had been filled in, the brick rim was still as it had been in the beginning. Under the bathhouse floor, there were still dozens of stones. The garden grounds were flat and level, with fruit trees and vegetables lush and green. Everyone present could not help but sigh in wonder. Within the garden there was a pond called the Salt Pool, its banks covered with reeds and rushes, the water surface carpeted with lotus leaves and water chestnuts. Green pines and emerald bamboos grew thickly on all sides. When fine days and beautiful moments came, the scholars and officials of the capital would take their holidays and return home, then invite friends and companions to wander in this temple. Carriages thronged together, their canopies shading the sun like clouds. Some would hold feasts among the woods and streams, others would write poems in the flower gardens, plucking lotuses and washing melons, delighting in all these pleasures. At the end of the Putai era (532-533 AD), the governor of Yongzhou, the Prince of Longxi, Erzhu Tianguang, assembled his troops and horses at this temple. For no apparent reason, the temple gate suddenly collapsed. Tianguang saw this and found it ominous. That same year, he was defeated in battle and beheaded at the Eastern Market.
