在大夏門御道西寺前有閱武場嵗終農隙甲士習戰千乘萬騎常在於此有漢魏無有字羽林馬僧相善觝角戯擲戟與百尺樹齊等虎賁張車渠如隱無渠字擲刀出樓一丈帝亦觀戯在樓恒令二人對為角戯中朝時宣武場在如隱無在字大夏門東北今為光風園苜蓿生漢魏在焉

> Outside the western gate of the temple on the Imperial Way at Daxia Gate, there is a military training field. At the end of each year, during the agricultural off-season, armored soldiers drill in warfare here, with thousands of chariots and tens of thousands of horsemen always present. A cavalryman named Ma Seng, skilled in acrobatic wrestling, could throw a halberd as high as a hundred-foot tree. The imperial guard Zhang Quchu could hurl a dagger a full story above a tower. The emperor himself would watch the performances from the tower, often allowing two men to stage a wrestling match. During the Western Jin dynasty, the Xuanwu Field was located northeast of Daxia Gate—now known as Guangfeng Garden, where alfalfa grows.
