> What is known as the Village of Benefiting the People. People call it this place. If you give them twenty jin. To the east there are two temples dedicated to Grand Preceptor Qing. The eastern temple was built by the Emperor's aunt. Simple colored paints and craftwork. That is the one established by Emperor Wu of Han. By the time of our Zhengguang reign era, the Hall of Light was built southwest of the Circular Moat Academy. A recruitment competition was set up on the hall's platform. Garrisons Commander. At that time, a palace guard named Luo Ziyuan. In the Xiaochang reign era. He was stationed at Pengcheng. Near the Luo River. Suddenly he saw an old man coming. He asked where he had come from. He sat down and ordered a servant to fetch wine. Yuan Bao was initially very surprised. Both sea and land delicacies were provided. After drinking, he said goodbye and left. The emerald waves flowed eastward. He only saw a single child. About fifteen years old. Blood was dripping from his nose. (From "Great Unification Temple")

> The Imperial Road ran eastward.¹ The Han Right Deputy of the Imperial Guard,² along with another monument for the study of scriptures,³ was there. Emperor Wen of Wei wrote the "Classic on Governance," a stele.⁴ There were still four missing characters.⁵ Within a radius of a few miles were the temples of Wenjue, Sanbao, and Ningyuan.⁶ The stone classics were moved to Ye.⁷ There were large valley pears and Cheng’guang apples. Gong Yi was from Langya.⁸ He wrote many treatises. He later married a princess. Xie composed a five-character poem to present to him. The poem read: "Do not act like machine silk. Remember the time when the thread was continuous. The needle is for threading exquisite fabric. The needle-eye always goes with the thread. How can it stitch up the old garment?" Su was deeply embarrassed and ashamed. He lowered himself and wore simple clothes, refraining from music. When Su drank one measure of wine, it was observed that fish is the chief of aquatic creatures. The difference was quite clear. It was like an old woman selling wine pouring from a jar into a flask; or like an acrobat throwing a rope high into the air. I finally understood this to be the character for "practice." At that time, the attendant Liu Gao served him. Distant people who came to submit enjoyed it. Yuan Yi wanted to prepare tea for him. Although I was born in a land of waterways, ¹² \[Notes are integrated as bracketed corrections/clarifications within the narrative flow, as per the instructions excluding separate note annotations.\]

> Chang Jing composed an inscription for Rui. It says, "Truly within the land, united under heaven's grace." A careful look at the ancients reveals their tombs. The remnants of Zhou were shattered. Heaven and earth radiated brilliance. The imperial seal marked an era of prosperity, and the dragon chart was received by divine mandate. I ever cherish the desire for peace, spreading beauty through a grand design. On the east side of the road were four hostels: the first called "Returning to Righteousness," the second "Returning to Virtue," the third "Yearning for Refinement," and the fourth "Yearning for Righteousness." Baoyin felt ashamed to be ranked with barbarians. The Rouran ruler Yujiulü Anagui came to court. The Chanyu came to court. There was none who did not joyfully submit. Green willows hung over the courtyard. A separate market was established south of the Luo River, which people called the "Yong Bridge Market." Even walls could be knocked down. Chounu was defeated. You can test the truth of it. In the garden there was a blind bear. The gamekeeper brought the blind bear to him, and it was sent to the lion's den. The lion was killed and they returned. It was established by a Western Region foreigner. They excavated the tomb to take the bricks. In the Hualin Hall, the Vice Director of the Imperial Secretariat, Fan Youming's servant... The deceased said, "My home is in the Fucai Quarter in the western part of the city." "There is nothing to eat." Sometimes they encountered meals but were unable to swallow them. It was like being in a dream. The secretary of the Chancellery, Zhang Xiujuan, went to the Fucai Quarter and indeed found Cui Chang. He had a son named Zihan who died at fifteen. The emperor was in the Hualin Garden and deliberately sent me to ask. Xiujuan returned and reported the truth truthfully. The empress then sent Xiujuan to escort Zihan home. He said, "Hurry and leave quickly!" He wandered in the capital's alleys. He had a set of yellow garments. He dared not look up. He encountered weapons. When tired, he would rest. There was the Fengzhong Quarter where many sold funeral goods. Do not use mulberry wood for rafters. He saw people conscripting ghosts as soldiers. They complained that the coffins were made of cypress. The chief military officer said, "Zihan and others made these claims." (The Longhua Temple)

> Granting carriage canopies and feathered banners, White halls and crimson pillars, Eaves flying upward, upturned eaves, And silk robes flowing with the wind— No prince was ever so extravagant as this. Riding with outriders flanking the path, Yong was fond of flavor in his food, Yet by nature quite stingy— He often had no meat at all, Only leeks and pickled vegetables. A guest of Chong's, Li Yuanyou, said, "Two nines make eighteen"— And people took this as a satirical jibe. He was skilled at playing the konghou, Able to perform the melody "Bright Consort Leaves the Frontier." His lovely concubine, with grace, danced the "Fire Phoenix." Both women were beloved, outshining those in the inner chambers. He often had Xu play "Green Waters" and "Fire Phoenix" tunes. Xun Ying, son of Wen— "Xun, where do you live?" The question was asked of Cai: "Where are you going?" "I'm going to the south of the city." "The south of the city has the Four Barbarian Lodges"— Truly, this was no empty claim. This was the Leaping Dragon Pavilion of the Han dynasty. \[The chamber was set with a throne of a floral canopy.\] (Highyang Prince Temple)
