> The Chanxu Temple was located west of the Imperial Way on Daxia Gate Avenue. The Ningyuan Temple was built by Jia Can, the eunuch governor of Ji Prefecture. It was located one li outside Guangmo Gate, east of the Imperial Way. The capital city measured twenty li from east to west and fifteen li from north to south, with a population of 109,000 households. Apart from the temples, ancestral halls, palaces, and government offices, every three hundred paces formed one ward. Each ward had four gates, manned by two wardens, four clerks, and eight gatekeepers. There were a total of 220 wards and 1,367 temples. In the first year of the Tianping era, the capital was moved to Yecheng, leaving 421 temples behind in Luoyang. On Mount Mang, there were the Fengwang Temple and the Temple of Prince Qi Xianwu. East of the capital at Stone Pass stood the Temple of General Yuan Ling and Liu Changqiu. Among the Song Mountains were the Queju Temple, the Qichan Temple, the Songyang Temple, and the Daochang Temple. At the summit was the Zhongding Temple, and east of it was the Shengdao Temple. South of the capital at Pass Pass were the Shiku Temple and the Lingyan Temple. West of the capital along the Chan and Jian Rivers were the White Horse Temple and the Zhaole Temple. Since these temples were located outside the city walls, they were not included in the above count, but I have recorded them in detail here.
