> Mingxian Nunnery was founded by Pengcheng King Xie. Located south of the Stone Bridge outside Jianchun Gate, it had a three-story pagoda that was not yet decorated. East of the temple was the Changman Granary from the Zhongchao period. Longhua Temple was founded by the imperial guards and archers. Situated south of Yang Canal outside Jianchun Gate, there was a grain market south of the temple. North of Yang Canal was Jianyang Ward, which had an earthen platform three zhang high. Two meditation huts were built on top, and a bell hung there that could be heard fifty li away. Because the sound traveled so far, the Empress Dowager had the bell moved inside the palace and placed in front of Ningxian Hall, where it was rung on schedule for monks giving lectures inside. In the first year of Xiaochang, Xiao Yan's son, Prince Xiao Zong of Yuzhang, surrendered and came over. Upon hearing this bell's sound, he found it extraordinary and composed three songs about the bell, which spread throughout the world at that time. Yingluo Temple was located north of the Imperial Road outside Jianchun Gate, in what was called Jianyang Ward. Within this ward were ten temples including Yingluo, Cishan, Huihui, Tongjue, Huiyuan, Zongsheng, Wei\[missing\], Chang, Xiping, Chongzhen, and Yinguo. Proceeding one li beyond Jianchun Gate leads to the East Stone Bridge. Turning northwest, the bridge was built in the first year of Taikang of the Jin dynasty. South of the bridge was the Horse Market of the Wei period, where Xi Kang was executed. West of the road north of the bridge was Jianyang Ward; east of the road was Suimin Ward, where Liu Xuanming of Hejian had his residence. Weichang Nunnery was founded by the eunuch Li Cishou, governor of Ying Province, located in the southeast corner of the ward, which was the Cattle and Horse Market of the Zhongchao period. On the south road of the Stone Bridge was Jingxing Nunnery, also founded by eunuchs. East of Jianyang Ward was Suimin Ward, which contained Luoyang County and bordered the canal. East of Suimin Ward was Chongyi Ward, where Du Zixiu of Jingzhao had his residence. East of Chongyi Ward was Seven Li Bridge, built of stone. One li east of Seven Li Bridge was a city gate with three openings, called Three Gates by the people. Zhuangyan Temple was located one li outside Dongyang Gate, north of the Imperial Road, in what was called Dong'an Ward. North of it was the Grain Market Ward, containing the residences of four officials: Sima Yue, Commander of the Imperial Guard; Jie Xuan, Governor of Ji Province; Li Zhennu, Governor of You Province; and Bo\[missing\] Rang, Governor of Yu Province. Temple of the Grand Matriarch of Qin was founded by Empress Dowager Hu. Located two li outside Dongyang Gate, north of the Imperial Road, in Huiwen Ward, this ward contained the residences of four officials: Grand Guardian Cui Guang, Grand Preceptor Li Yanshi, Governor of Ji Province Li Shao, and Secretary Zheng Daozhao. Zhengshi Temple was founded by various officials during the Zhengshi reign period and named after it. Located south of the Imperial Road outside Dongyang Gate, in Jingyi Ward, which contained the residence of the Director of Forestry. South of Jingyi Ward was Zhaode Ward, containing the residences of five officials: You Zhao, President of the Board of Personnel; Li Biao, Censor; Cui Xiu, Minister of Seven Boards; Chang Jing, Governor of You Province; and Zhang Lun, Minister of Agriculture. Pingdeng Temple was converted from the residence of Prince Huai of Guangping, Wumu. Located two li outside Qingyang Gate, north of the Imperial Road, in Xiaojing Ward. Outside the temple gate stood a golden statue two zhang eight chi tall, with noble and dignified features. It often manifested spiritual signs, foretelling the nation's fortunes. In the first year of Yongxi, when the Prince of Pingyang ascended the throne, a five-story pagoda was built. The emperor ordered Vice Minister Wei Shou and others to compose the temple's inscription. By the fifth month of the second year, construction was complete. The emperor led a hundred officials in a grand assembly of ten thousand monks. Jingning Temple was founded by Grand Guardian and Minister of Works Yang Chun. Located three li outside Qingyang Gate, south of the Imperial Road, in Jingning Ward. Three li outside Qingyang Gate, north of the Imperial Road, was Xiaoyi Ward. In its northwest corner was Su Qin's tomb, with Baoming Temple nearby. East of Xiaoyi Ward was Luoyang Small Market, and north of it was the residence of Chariot and Horse General Zhang Jingren. East of Xiaoyi Ward and north of the market was Zhihuo Ward.
