The "Selected Records of Imperial Dialogues on the Way" from the "Records of the Patriarchal Lineage" is a Buddhist scripture compiled by Guo Ningzhi during the Ming Dynasty. This work gathers dialogues between emperors and eminent monks throughout history, highlighting the historical interactions and intellectual exchanges as rulers sought spiritual guidance. It addresses core themes such as Zen mind-nature and governance philosophy, reflecting the integration of Buddhism with Chinese political culture. Not only is this text a crucial document for studying the relationship between Buddhism and imperial authority, but it also forms an essential part of Zen historical records, offering significant academic value for understanding Ming Dynasty Buddhist thought and its secularization process.
