又《普曜經》云：「於是菩薩適出城門，迦維羅衛一切群眾，知太子去共談而喜。瞿夷明日從寐起已，遙聞眾言，覺知已去，與耶輸心為破裂。淨飯王感絕，自投於地，舉聲稱怨：『永絕我望，何所依怙？』國中樹木，尋時虧落，無諸華實。諸清淨地，悉生塵垢。王與群臣、眷屬，行至園觀，亦懷悲苦：『嗚呼阿子，明曉經典，眾奇異術，無不博達。今至棄國萬民，為何所遊？誰為開門？其諸天人，供養云何？』車匿白王：『我在常處，宴然寐床，城門已閉。於時菩薩告我被馬。城中萬民，皆安不聞。天帝開門，四天王告敕四神，捧其馬足。諸百千天帝釋梵，以侍送之。嚴治道路，演大光明。散光燒香，諸天伎樂，同時俱作，涌在虛空，諸圍繞以侍送之。去是極遠，脫衣寶瓔及白馬，遣我還國，啟王謝妃，必至成佛，乃還相見。勿令愁憂！』」

> Also, the \*Universal Light Sutra\* says: "At that time, as the Bodhisattva left the city gates, all the people of Kapilavastu, upon learning of the prince's departure, talked amongst themselves and rejoiced. When Gautami woke up the next morning, she heard the distant chatter and realized he had already left, and her heart broke along with Yasodhara's. King Shuddhodana, overcome with grief, threw himself to the ground and cried out in anguish: 'All my hopes are gone forever—who can I rely on now?' The trees in the kingdom withered instantly, losing all their blossoms and fruit, and the pure, clean lands were covered with dust and filth. The king, along with his ministers and family, went to the royal gardens, his heart heavy with sorrow: 'Alas, my son, you who understood the scriptures well and mastered all the arts and sciences. Now you've abandoned your kingdom and its people—where will you go? Who opened the gate for him? And how are the gods attending to him?' Channa said to the king: 'I was in my usual place, asleep in my bed, and the city gates were already locked. At that time, the prince instructed me to bring him his horse. The people of the city were all asleep and heard nothing. The god Šakra opened the gate, and the Four Heavenly Kings ordered their attendants to lift up the horse's hooves. Hundreds of thousands of gods, along with Šakra and Brahma, accompanied him. They paved the way, casting a great radiant light, scattering flowers and burning incense, while heavenly music played all at once. They soared through the sky, surrounding him and escorting him on his journey. When they had gone far enough, he took off his robes, precious jewels, and adorned his white horse, sending me back to the kingdom to inform the king and convey his gratitude to his wife. He said he would surely attain enlightenment before he would return to see them again. He asked that they not worry!'"
