前天童以一棒撼臨濟復起，後天童以三玄振太白高風。棒不透玄，終非所出；玄不透棒，將何所宗？一任明眼擇其異同。吾以心交有在，是故獨讓山翁。

> Yesterday, Tiantong used a single staff to stir Linji back to life; today, Tiantong raises the grand spirit of Taibai with the Three Mysteries. If the staff fails to penetrate the mystery, it's ultimately not the true way; if the mystery fails to penetrate the staff, what then shall one rely on? Let the discerning eyes decide their differences. I connect through the heart, and therefore I yield alone to Shanweng.
