### 懺願第五

> Chapter 5: Confession and Vows

四譯經文皆先除罪障次滿願求故懺悔後即發願也從結經已作禮長跪燒香運想。

> All four translations of the sutra first remove the obstacles of sin and then fulfill one’s wishes; therefore, after repentance, one immediately makes vows. From the conclusion of the sutra onward, one pays homage, kneels upright, burns incense, and visualizes.

普為四恩三有法界眾生悉願斷除三障歸命懺悔一拜復跪運逆順十心。

> For the sake of all beings in the four fields of gratitude and the three realms, I vow to eliminate the three hindrances, take refuge, and repent.

至心懺悔我比丘某甲歸命十方常住三寶釋迦牟尼阿彌陀佛聖觀自在具大悲者願起哀憐為作明證我為法界一切眾生無始心性如摩尼寶自體清淨神用本然為諸如來同一祕藏妄想流動幻有輪迴於生死中受諸熱惱所謂過現造積四重五逆十惡之業當墮阿鼻地獄之苦以惡業故現身所纏一切疾病種種災厄廣如經說諸惡因緣今奉大悲聖觀自在教我誦持如意寶輪令得滅除如是罪障百千種事所願皆成惟願菩薩受我懺悔從我所求施與摩尼雨諸󳏃寶世及出世福慧資粮皆使隨心無不充足乃至盡其形壽不入胞胎蓮華化生極樂世界見阿彌陀佛觀自在菩薩真實色身聞妙法音證圓通性然後普門示現饒益有情盡出塵勞同成種智懺悔發願已歸命禮三寶三說或一說已右旋道場。

> With utmost sincerity, I repent. I, the monk \[Name\], take refuge in the Ten Directions' Eternal Triple Gem, Śākyamuni Buddha, Amitābha Buddha, and the Holy Avalokiteśvara, the Greatly Compassionate One. I pray that you, moved by pity, will bear clear witness. For the sake of all sentient beings throughout the Dharma realm, from beginningless time, our mind's nature is like a wish-fulfilling jewel: its essence is pure, its divine function is inherently so, and it is the same secret treasury of all Buddhas. Yet, through deluded thoughts flowing, illusory existence cycles through rebirth. Amidst birth and death, we endure all manner of scorching torments—specifically, the heavy transgressions of the four grave offenses, the five heinous crimes, and the ten evil deeds accumulated in past and present lives. These should lead to the suffering of the Avīci Hell. Due to this evil karma, we are bound in this very life by all diseases and various calamities, extensively as described in the sutras, these evil causes and conditions. Now, I respectfully receive the teaching of the Greatly Compassionate Holy Avalokiteśvara, who instructs me to recite and uphold the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Wheel, enabling the eradication of such karmic obstacles. May hundreds and thousands of matters be accomplished as wished. I only pray that the Bodhisattva accepts my repentance and, according to my supplications, bestows the wish-fulfilling jewel, raining down all treasures—worldly and transcendental resources of merit and wisdom—so that all may be fulfilled according to heart's desire, lacking nothing. Furthermore, until the end of this life, may I not enter a womb but be born from a lotus flower in the Land of Ultimate Bliss, see Amitābha Buddha and Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva in their true, glorious forms, hear the wondrous sound of the Dharma, and realize the nature of perfect penetration. Then, manifesting universally to benefit sentient beings, may I exhaust all defilements and afflictions, and together achieve the wisdom of all seeds. <note place="inline">After repenting and making vows, take refuge in and bow to the Triple Gem. Say this three times or once, then circumambulate the practice area to the right.</note>

或三稱或七稱旋遶佛前三帀已立佛前三自歸依而退。

> Or chant three times, or chant seven times, then walk three circles around the Buddha, stand before the Buddha, make threefold self-refuge, and then withdraw.

-   自歸於法當願眾生深入經藏智慧如海
-   自歸於僧當願眾生統理大眾一切無礙
