> The scripture says: First, one must eliminate all karmic obstacles, then one can accomplish all endeavors. It can also eliminate the grave sins that would lead to the Avīci Hell, such as the five heinous crimes.<note place="inline">The translation by Bodhiruci adds: The karmic obstacles of the four grave offenses, the five heinous crimes, and the ten evils accumulated in the past and present, which should cause one to fall into the Avīci Hell, can all be eliminated. If one sees various auspicious dreams, one should know these are signs of the extinction of sins.</note> It can also eradicate all illnesses and sufferings, all heavy karmas, such as various fevers—whether occurring day or night, or as one-day, two-day, three-day, or four-day fevers—wind disorders, bile disorders, phlegm disorders, and afflictions of the three burners. Reciting this mantra will cure such illnesses. If others practice sorcery, use poison, or cast malevolent spells, all will be completely eliminated without a trace. Even if one is afflicted all over the body with abscesses, malignant sores, scabies, leprosy, ulcers, ringworm, as well as pain in the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, lips, mouth, teeth, throat, head, chest, ribs, heart, abdomen, waist, back, hands, feet, face, and other parts, joint pains, paralysis, abdominal distension, masses, indigestion—from head to toe, whatever the ailment, there is none that will not be cured. If there are yakṣas, rākṣasas, vināyakas, evil demons, ghosts, spirits, or any who do harm, they will gain no advantage. Nor will weapons, clubs, soldiers, arrows, fire, water, poisons, violent winds, hail, enemies, thieves, robbers, or plunderers be able to harm one. There will be no untimely death from royal punishment or banditry, nor will harmful influences come to inflict injury. In evil dreams, venomous snakes, vipers, geckos, centipedes, spiders, and all poisonous creatures—tigers, wolves, lions—will be unable to harm. In battles and warfare, one will attain victory. If there are disputes, they will be reconciled. If one recites it once, all the above matters will be fulfilled as wished. If one recites it one hundred and eight times daily, one will see Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, who will announce: "Good man, do not fear. Whatever wish you seek, I will grant it all to you." Amitābha Buddha will manifest himself, and the various adornments of the Land of Ultimate Bliss will be seen, as described extensively in the sutra. One will also see the assembly of bodhisattvas in the Land of Ultimate Bliss, as well as all the buddhas of the ten directions. One will also see the place where Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva resides, Mount Potalaka. One will then attain purity of body, constantly receive reverence and offerings from kings, ministers, and officials, and be loved and respected by all. Wherever one is born, one will not enter a mother's womb but be born from a lotus flower, fully endowed with all marks. In all future births, one will constantly possess the memory of past lives. From this day until attaining buddhahood, one will not fall into evil paths but will always be born in the presence of the buddhas.<note place="inline">Bodhiruci's translation adds afterward: This Secret Wish-Fulfilling Wheel Dhāraṇī also has two aspects: one mundane, the other supramundane. The mundane aspect refers to the achievement of wealth, status, power, and dignity. The supramundane aspect refers to the increase of merit, wisdom, provisions for enlightenment, adornment of compassion, relief of suffering sentient beings, and being loved and respected by all. Moreover, those who wish to realize this secret samaya should keep it secret themselves and not recklessly proclaim it.</note>.
